International Theatre Conference: Directing and Authorship in Western Drama

As a director mainly interested in non-naturalistic performance practices, for the last few years, I have been mainly working with non-dramatic texts: poems or narratives. In my latest project, a collaboration with a physical theatre company to develop a piece on the theme of Migration to Canada, my approach to the text issue has been "the other way around." I actually started wtih performance ideas, performance parameters, and looked for specific texts from that place. In this paper, I will present the challenges and issues that we have been confronted in this process. |
