Serpil Kocabiyik (PhD Western, 1987). After holding positions as Postdoctoral Fellow at Western and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba, Serpil joined Memorial University of Newfoundland where she is currently an Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics. Serpil's research interest lie in the areas of Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Applied Analysis, Perturbation Methods, Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling. She is an elected member of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society Council. At Memorial University, Serpil won the Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award in 2000.
