Stanislavski and Directing: Theory, Practice, Influence

An International Conference
Presented by Acadia University and the Graduate Centre for Study of Drama, University of Toronto

This conference will bring together prominent scholars and theatre practitioners from various parts of the world to explore the theoretical, empirical and aesthetic insights and influences of Constantin Stanislavski on the art of directing.

Proposals are invited for research papers, panels and roundtables on any aspect of Stanislavski’s historic ‘system’ related to the art of direction, from theoretical base and methodological applications and adaptations in production to current critical perspectives and multiplex legacy in theatre as well as film practice. Non-traditional presentations are welcome; graduate student submissions are especially encouraged.

Individual critical submissions should include a titled abstract of no more than 500 words, complete contact information and institutional affiliation. Panel proposals should include a session title, the name of the contact person for the session, contact information of each presenter, and abstracts of each paper. Note any visual resources needed.
